Huge news about people falling down!

Y'ALL. I can't believe I have neglected to share this with you for so long. We all thought we'd be waiting until summer for Wipeout to return, languishing in the cold months with no people falling down on national television AT ALL. I am so pleased to report that this is NOT THE CASE.

THANK YOU LORD! IT'S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!!

The danger of judging people harshly

So here I was just sitting and listening to this AV tech guy jabber on his phone and thinking what a DWEEB this dude was. He was reminding me of this horrible man with whom I once shared an office for about a year and who shall remain nameless, and who was just the worst dweeb. This AV dweeb is at least nice and friendly, though. Office dweeb was mean and sexist and rude and also did not seem to bathe on even a semi-regular basis. But anyway, I was wrong to think that AV dude was a dweeb, because I just heard him say:

"It's really unfortunate that Wipeout is not on Hulu."

Turns out AV Dweeb is actually AV Kindred Spirit. High fives to you, fellow fan of things that are awesome!

Agreeing to Disagree

A few weeks ago, I learned something about my best pal that was shocking to me: Sydney does not like Wipeout. I didn't know what to make of this news. How can anyone not love an utterly mindless show all about people falling down in hilarious ways?!

"I hate to break it to you," she said, "but Wipeout gives me a sad. I mean, once that woman was hit in the face with her own breasts, basic human dignity jumped the shark."

High quality video of the event in question:

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. You have a point, Syd, but my love for Wipeout will not be diminished - after all, the contestants have kind of signed up to have their dignity erased. Perhaps that's what appeals to me so much about Wipeout - I spend so much time worrying about doing something stupid or clumsy or awkward that will make me look like a fool, but these people are meeting that fear head on! Or maybe I just like seeing people fall down. I dunno.

Regardless, this is also a valuable lesson that good pals don't have to agree on everything. We had this photo snapped directly after our Wipeout disucssion:

See? Still the best of friends!

Wipeout, Interrupted

I got a really odd email last night full of unsolicited and kind of condescending advice from someone I barely know. It made me really upset. The whole message initially made me feel really bad about myself, then it made me really angry, then I decided that this individual was a total garbage person, and then I realized said person didn't mean any harm, and was just someone who kind of fundamentally didn't get certain realities. But, it was all still very hard to shake off, and the bad feelings lingered... and the worst part was that ALL THIS EFFING INTERRUPTED WIPEOUT. And that is the thing that still stings.

NOT COOL, PERSON I BARELY KNOW! There is another episode of Wipeout tomorrow evening. Please refrain from emailing at that time. Let me have this.

People falling down is hilarious

Email I just sent Syd:

HOLY SHIT WIPEOUT COMES BACK TOMORROW

See that? Too excited to even bother with punctuation! I LOVE WIPEOUT.
