Dog person, or cat person?

My delightful friend Lindsey just sent me this video which I found to be a hoot and a half.  It's about a dude who has a dog-friend and a cat-friend.

A near miss

As embarrassing and disheartening as it is to totally screw something up, sometimes I think it can be worse to get everything nearly right and just barely miss out on your goal.  I thought that last week as I was watching those poor sad Russian gymnasts weep over getting a silver medal in the team finals at the Olympics.

I also thought it when I saw this picture:

I can see!

I went to the eye doctor this morning for the first time in probably 2 years.  Turns out, my eyes have gotten significantly worse in that time, and I got a new prescription for glasses and contacts.

But then I walked outside, and everything was just so sharp and crisp and WAY TOO REAL.  It's very overwhelming.  So now I'm kind of like this in reaction to everything:

It's Maru's birthday!

Y'all, Maru is 3 years old! That is 21 in cat years, which means he's probably completely tanked, which would really explain all that weird ass hopping into boxes he does. He's just drunk! Anyway, his owner made this delightful compilation video for Maru's many fans:

The thing to do - stay inside and be snuggly

Y'all, it is REALLY cold in DC. I have about a half hour walk to work, and the past few mornings it has just been miserable - so much so that I've even considered taking the Metro instead (the Metro during rush hour is basically a nightmare on wheels, if you've never experienced it). My damn toes is FROZE! On days such as this, the only thing to do is stay under the covers and cuddle up with the one you love.



Sadly, that is not an option because we are all adults and we have to go to stupid work because we have to have money for rent and bills and the seemingly insurmountable, soul crushing pile of debt that never ever seems to get any smaller, no matter how much of your paycheck you keep throwing at it.
