Jesus and donuts

I really enjoy being friended by folks on Facebook with whom I went to, say, elementary school.  Or took a canoe trip with in the 9th grade.  Or met one time while volunteering at an animal shelter in college.  You know the type - you barely know this person, but they friend you, and you go with it and then they update ALL. THE. TIME.  My personal fave of these in my own news feed is a gent with whom I've not spoken since the 6th grade.  He posts multiple times a day, and all his statuses concern either the Lord or pastries.  Occasionally he throws in some platitude of his own he's dreamed up.  Here are just a few recent examples!

Therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that GOD will be given glory. - Romans 15:7 - Happy Wednesday!

Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor. - Proverbs 21:21

If someone breaks your heart just punch them in the face.

DONUTS IN THE BREAKROOM!!! Someone up there is really looking out for me!!! :D #YesYesYesYesYes

Always be yourself, this world has no room for copies.

My boss surprised me with a donut this morning........ #YesYesYesYesYes :)

Remember the past, plan for the future, but live for today, because yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come. #EverydayIsAGiftFromGOD

Looking for that white and red box to be in the break room. Hoping for that white and red box to be in the break room. Wishing for that white and red box to be in the break room. JACKPOT!!! :) lol. #GettingMeADonut

I seriously love this guy.  I also hope he brings me a donut, like a good servant of the Lord.

Funniest video of the week

It's only Tuesday, but I'm calling it now - this promo video for the 2011 Day of Prayer is the most hilarious thing the Internet will produce this week. Cause I thought it was a joke, but it is not a joke. Someone actually made this in the hopes of getting people PUMPED about praying.

This is the one to beat, folks!

Thank goodness Pete's semester is over

Pete has finished his third semester of law school, y'all! YAY PETE! And not a moment too soon, cause we have not been able to talk much as he prepped for finals, and that was not much fun for me. But now he is BACK, and he has returned with guns blazing by sending me this video:

We Three Kings is a good carol, isn't it? Loving the choir's dedication here. Keep the holiday cheer coming, Pete!

Ed. note - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! It's been removed! Well, it was really really funny. And if you missed seeing it, it just goes to show - things move quickly here at OEIA. Try to keep up.

Should I buy this?

I mean, it's pretty much the perfect combination of all that Sam and I stand for as a unit.

It's an ornament, and we don't have a tree. But really, a person could hang this anywhere. It's $22.

Your thoughts?

Remembering what's important

On Saturday, I went with two old friends and two new friends to Fatback, an amazing dance night at Bohemian Caverns on U Street. It was a sweat-tastic booty shaking great time, but in the middle of it all, we took a moment to throw up our arms and salute the memory of the Touchdown Jesus. Gone but not forgotten, old pal.

Update on the Butter Jesus

The original artist of the Touchdown Jesus, which sadly met its maker (Ed. note - HA!) earlier this week, has very generously offered to design a replacement! Fingers crossed that this statue will suggest some more unusual sports than football - I'm hoping for biathalon Jesus, myself.

Also, here's a shot of the Touchdown Jesus on fire, and I'll be gosh darned if it don't look like the Rapture:

HOLY SMOKES (and thanks to friend A-Woww for that amazing pun)!!

Dear God! Literally!

Disaster from Southern Ohio, people. A six story tall statue of Jesus has been struck by lightning and burned to bits. The statue stood at the Solid Rock Church north of Cincinnati. I was alerted to this breaking news story by my friend Rachel, who hails from that part of the globe. She shared with me that locals refer to it as the 'Touchdown Jesus.' Let's take a look at why:

Yep, pretty much. This also reminds me of an old country music song my daddy used to sing, which was called "Drop Kick Me, Jesus, Through the Goal Posts of Life."

Rest in peace, Touchdown Jesus!
