I've been on vacay, y'all! I have so much to report, but in the meantime, I am sitting on my rumpus watching Food Network. Sandra Lee is on at the moment, creating her signature brand of garbage nosh, and I just have to say that she is the worst. Need evidence?
That cake might be racist. It's definitely gross.

A lil adventure
Today I had a staff retreat at a site in Petworth, a neighborhood in DC that some of my coworkers (mostly the ones who live in the 'burbs) seem to think is marginal at best. I like to live on the edge, so I opted to take the Metro and walk to the meeting rather than waste money I don't have on a cab. And it was delightful! Everyone was most friendly and the walk was lovely and totally uneventful. I was about a block from the Metro on my way back home this afternoon, thinking "I didn't even get sexually harassed, this neighborhood is great!"... when I got sexually harassed. But it wasn't even that insulting! A man drove by and took a moment to slow and holler out his window, 'Where can I find a pretty lady like you?'. Sadly, he drove off before I could respond, but my reply would have been thus:
1) Sir, your taste is questionable.
2) At the Ophelia store, duh.

This was nice
Just went to check out info on getting a marriage license in DC, and saw this on the website:
NOTE: Pursuant to the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Equality Amendment Act of 2009, L18-110, effective March 3, 2010, same sex couples may apply for marriage licenses in the District of Columbia.
That is very nice. That is a very good thing! Hooray for marrying whoever you damn well please!

I found this last summer
Or maybe Sydney found it (ETA - Yes, Sydney found it). Either way, we both thought it was hilarious. And it still is!
The Four Minute Drug on Post It Note Stories.
