It's been some time since we had a quality clip from the Steve Harvey-hosted Family Feud. Luckily, the wait is over!
I love Marion's reaction. I have that reaction to various things at least 4 times a week.

Book recommendations
What are books are you reading these days, folks? I was given a large number of books for the holidays, and I am thrilled to have a fresh, healthy stack of tomes to devour - but those may have to get put on hold so that I can check out some of these great works highlighted in Buzzfeed's recent post 'These 24 Books Have Actually Been Published.'
I am already incomparably awesome, but you might want to check out this one:
Practice makes perfect, yo!
Here's one I think I need to read straightaway - like many twenty-somethings, I've wondered what the next step in my working life might be. My sister gave me some very good advice recently. She said that no one is going to have my career as their top priority but me. I think she is right - and I think I've found just the book to help me cultivate my inner businesswoman:
I'm off to see if Craigslist has any mattresses being put out on the side of the road today I can pick up. The sky's the limit, folks!

You should be friends with George Takei
George Takei, perhaps best known for playing Mr. Sulu on Star Trek, has one of the better Facebook pages around. You should befriend him on Facebook, and then all his funny posts will appear in your newsfeed and brighten your day! Here's one he just shared with his many, many fans:
Isn't that delightful and clever and funny? He's got a stellar Twitter feed as well. You're welcome.

Songs from Goo
One of the many benefits of having an older sister like Goo has been the awesome music to which she's introduced me. While my classmates were listening to garbage modern country radio slop or - I kid you not - Christian rock (welcome to rural Mississippi!), Goo was playing me Nirvana, Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, Beck and the like. Of course, at the time this only served to make me even more weird than the other kids, but later in life it helped me pretend to be marginally cool! Thank you, Goo!
She just texted me to remind me of another musical genuis she brought into my life - DR. HOOK.
Mmm, nothing like a slow jam on a Friday night.

Yo, even Google is racist!
I was just reminded of the existence of the outstanding Tumblr Yo, Is This Racist? (Lotsa curse words on that one so avoid if you're my mom or some other authority figure! (and speaking of authority figures didn't I just do a post about how I'm a grown-ass woman, so why am I bothering with this warning?)), and WHOA BUDDY are there some treasures on there! This one, in particular, really buttered my biscuit:
WOW, Google! You totally went there!

Adulthood
This week, one of my closest friends from college came to visit. He has always been a man of great eloquence. Over lunch on Wednesday he said to me:
"You look so different. You look like a grown-ass woman."
It was one of the best compliments I've ever received. THANKS PETER!

Happy New Year, Readers!
To my beloved and dedicated readers - Happy New Year to you all! Did you have a nice New Year's Eve? Did you raptor yourselves? I did not, as I still am not allowed to drink due to my brain sads. I did, however, have a truly delightful evening of movies and pizza and laffs with my dear friend Sydney. She and I have spent each New Year's Eve together for five years now, and if the world doesn't end on December 21, I hope we'll continue that tradition this year as well! As thanks for her loyal friendship, I dedicate this photo of a puppy acting as a bookmark to her.
So helpful! So fuzzy!
